TRIPLE GOLD TAKES IAN'S TALLY TO 18

Ian Brannigan returned home from the British Transplant Games in August with another three gold medals.

Big Ian won the 800m, 1500m and 5000m road race at the event in Norwich to take his gold medal tally at the Games in the past six years to 18.

A total of 50 teams from around the UK took part in the Games, competing in a range of sporting events including track and field, swimming, cycling and volleyball.

The Northern Ireland Transplant Team shared with Manchester the award for most medals won.

Big Ian is now training with the aim of being selected to compete at the World Transplant Games in Canada next year.  He has already scooped 11 medals at the World events in Hungary in 1999, Japan in 2001 and France last year.
