Duncan impresses in a record turnout

The 2008 Hill & Dale Race Series got off to a brilliant start last Thursday in Castlewellan Forest Park with the traditional opener – the McVeigh Classic. Bereavement

We regret to announce the death of former Newcastle AC member, John Sloan, suddenly on holiday at the weekend. John was a regular competitor in mountain races, missing out a couple of seasons due to injury. He returned to active competition in 2007, also the year that he joined the club. John had a very long association with the Hill and Dale, having participated from the first year of the series and had also competed the predecessor to this series, the Forest and Fell race league. No funeral arrangement are known at this stage but we will update members later. Our sympathy is expressed to his wife Eleanor and son Jonathan.
